How to self care burnout

Working almost 24 hours a day as a writer and a mother of two (2) home schooled kids is very exhausting. I need to come up new ideas, scenarios and scripts at the same time cooked meals for my two teenagers. My emotional, physical and mental exhaustion is always in the verge to burst anytime. Just like a balloon, filled with gas and trying to escape to let the inflation lessen.Burnout

March and April  were the crucial months for me. All works are filled up and deadline is too much. Husband health is not good. Staying at the hospital for a week, manage housework (Aunt is in vacation) while working is making me insane. Sometimes, I just close myself in the comfort room and try to cry but unluckily no more tears to come out. I need to be strong and get back on my feet but how?

My  job does not need me to dress-up, put make-up, travel and face the traffic everyday or deal with office politics or insensitive workmates but the demand is so high. I need to write 2 articles a day, supervise some social media posts and maintain the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) ranking of sites I handles. Sounds simple right? But if you do this in every single day what do you feel?

Yes, I was burnout to death, but I can’t never complain. I need to pay medical bills, education, insurance and utility bills every month. I need to push myself to the limit that sometimes my brain went blank and I can’t think anything. I have no sense of time or date sometimes forget important occasions and always late in most of my meetings.

Burnout is a state of chronic stress that leads to physical and emotion exhaustion.

I need to get back on my feet and overcome this situation. Do some self care before this could be worsen. It takes me three (3) weeks to figure out and do some self healing. Here are the things I’ve done to heal myself and hope can inspire and help people experiencing burnout.

  1.  Write and schedule all my commitments, deadlines and housework and see how to can make more time for myself. Open up to my boss how he can lessen my job. Consult a doctor and take some medication for my insomnia.
  2. Start saying no to things that will only add to my stress level. There are lots of food delivery platform if cooking will take out my time. There is also a nearby laundry shop to take care our laundry and the best thing is I was able to teach my boys some basic house work.  Now they know how to fold their clothes, make their beds, doing some house cleaning and bathroom cleaning.
  3. Putting myself first is not selfish — it’s 100 percent necessary. I’m back on reading books, watching Viu, Netflix, Fox and Disney— whatever makes me feel good is what I should do.

Burnout isn’t like the flu; it doesn’t go away after a few weeks unless you make some changes in your life. And as hard as that may seem, it’s the smartest thing to do because making a few little changes now will keep you in the race with a lot of gas to get you across the finish line,” according to Dr. Sherrie Bourg Carter, a psychologist and author of High Octane Women: How Superachievers Can Avoid Burnout.
